Transparent color is thin, and generally has texture, marks, or colors that can be seen underneath it. If you painted a wall three times with a flat, blue, wall paint you would have a very opaque color, but if you then poured coffee on top of the wall you would have turned that blue, opaque color into a transparent color. Transparent colors tend to go back in space.
