How does symmetry relate to  design?

Symmetry is a very formal type of balance consisting of a mirroring of portions of an image. If the intention of the artist is to create a balanced, harmonious, safe place for the viewer - then symmetry really is a great starting point. Symmetry is a quality of the Design. It’s important to be able to create this quality when we want it.
